At the completion of the auction, the Declarer should offer the opponents an explanation of any unusual bidding sequences in their auction, especially self- alerting calls (e.g. doubles, cue bids) that may have an unexpected meaning.

In any event, it is a good policy for the player on lead to request a full explanation of the auction before choosing their opening lead.
